This Year’s event was a success with over 1800 in attendance. We are so thankful to Second Baptist Church for allowing us to host our event in their magnificent Worship Center.

The music was beautiful and we were proud to give the Texas Heart of Service Award to four outstanding patriots along with unveiling three paintings of fallen heroes. It was an unforgettable performance.

Houston Texans Salute to the Military

The 2011 Houston Texans Training Camp presented by XFINITY will host its Inaugural Salute to the Military Day Training Camp practice on Wednesday, August 10th from 8am – 10am. The Houston Texans would like to invite all members of the military out to the Methodist Training Center to watch practice as the Houston Texans are back on the field and getting ready for the 2011 season.

Texans fans will have the opportunity to receive autographs from Houston Texans Cheerleaders, Ambassadors (former NFL players) and TORO, participate in sponsor related activities, win Texans giveaways, including a wristband to the Texans player autograph session after practice. Kids will also have the opportunity to take part in the TORO’s Kids Club presented by Kroger Kid’s Zone. Food and beverage and Texans merchandise will be available for purchase as well.

Admission is free for all fans and free parking is available just north of the Methodist Training Center in the Purple Lot. Gates will open at 7am, so get there early because the bleachers fill up fast!

WE HAVE A WINNER!

Finalists Jan Goodson, Jenny Myers, and Richard Stephens were chosen Wednesday, May 25th and notified that they were possible winners of the 2011 PTSD Foundation Raffle.

Finalists receiving keys to their keys to try on their truck, if the engine starts, you’re a winner!

Memorial Day, Monday, May 30, 2011, televised live at Lone Star Chevrolet on KPRC Channel 2, finalists were given a set of keys to three trucks….the winner being the one that started the engine.

As luck would have it, Jenny Myers’ key started the truck and has been declared the winner of a brand new 2011 Chevrolet Silverado Extended Cab Texas Edition Truck, courtesy of Lone Star Chevrolet!

Congratulations, Jenny!!!!

All proceeds from the Raffle go directly to Military and Veterans that are being served by the PTSD Foundation of America.

Pentagon Researches Alternative Treatments

WASHINGTON — The Pentagon is seeking new ways to treat troops suffering from combat stress or brain damage by researching such alternative methods as acupuncture, meditation, yoga and the use of animals as therapy, military officials said.

“This new theme is a big departure for our cautious culture,” Dr. S. Ward Casscells, the Pentagon’s assistant secretary for health affairs, told USA TODAY…

Suicide’s Rising Toll

Sgt. Jacob Blaylock flipped on the video camera he had set up in a trailer at the Tallil military base, southeast of Baghdad.

He lit a cigarette, inhaled deeply, blew the smoke upward.

“Hey, it’s Jackie,” he said. “It’s the 20th of April. We go home in six days. I lost two good friends on the 14th. I’m having a hard time dealing with it.”

For almost a year, the soldiers of the 1451st Transportation Company had been escorting trucks full of gasoline, building materials and other supplies along Iraq’s dark, dangerous highways. There had been injuries, but no one had died…
